Strong entry into the British Horror Scene, borrows heavily from a handful of successful films but adds a layer of human emotion through gritty realism via the performances from the cast and their relationships as characters. Certainly watch this to spook yourself out, the end will shock and stay with you long after the viewing.

A Night In the Woods
A Night In The Woods is another entry into the found footage genre but I found plays extremely well with the cold wet surroundings of the moors, a couple of interesting plot devices that it can call it’s own which keep the interest going. Apparently dialogue was improvised and adds a gritty element to proceedings. The cast do a good job of keeping the action fizzing along. Good film.

The Devil’s Business
Executed like a stage play, the film more or less plays in one location. The film is heavy on script with large monologues and this is played with great effect. In spite of being in one location the characters expertly describe other events outside of the film and locations. The effect is feeling like you are seeing a visually rich film. Great cast holds the attention in a genuinely creepy premise if a little hammy in the end.

The Holding
Great British flim of greed, jealousy and dark secrets against the idyllic backdrop of rural countryside life. Tension is built up slowly through the first half at such a pace that you really feel a sense of loss as things turn out not so rosy. The three female leads are very good with a decent script to back them up. Main guy looks like a slighty out of shape Gerard Butler, his performance is spot on in this film. An enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.

Rogue River
Probably the flakiest excuse for a storyline I have ever come across. Plot holes galore but it was executed with enthusiasm. Some humorous moments but for me the gaps in the story interrupted enjoying the film. It was kinda all over the place but I suppose kidnapping, incest and rape and torture is a tall order.
