I've Seen It

First off please let there not be any sequels for this film!

Fantastic Sci-Fi film which deals with alien colony on earth as an opportunity to essay racial tensions felt during apartheid. Apparently this film came about due to the collapse in producing a film based on Halo, there are Halo references in Distrcit 9 but I am not the person to ask as I am not a ‘Halo’ man.  Neill Blomkamp directs this film in  really fresh way by using a semi-documentary approach. The result is a film which feels so much more real and direct. The original idea for this film is based on a short film by Blomkamp you can see here.

No sequels please, this is the complete package.

Very good film which is firmly entrenched with the ‘torture porn’ stable of films. The director does a nice job in leading the viewer on a merry dance of becoming almost an accomplice to the action on screen. The set up is about the bleakness and unknown of travelling deep into eastern europe.

What it is: A superior entry in the whole gratuitous horror films arena

Great comedy for all the family with John Candy on top form as the useless bachelor taking care of his brother’s kids. Cue slapstick gags and soul searching a plenty.
